ROMANIA, the Macin Mountains area, Part 2 of the Danube Delta Tour, JUNE 2012

Wednesday, 20th June, our 4th day into the JUNE 2012 Danube Delta Tour

We are in the Rex Hotel, Tulcea, we are up and out of the hotel at 05.00 hours for the hour plus drive to Macin,
On arrival at Macin village we continued to where the grasslands meet the slopes of the Macin Mountains, rock terrain, quarries and scrub land.

Mick and I elected to go into the drinking hide for the morning session.

Honey Buzzard and Golden Oriole (neither came close)
White Stork (already on the seen list)


The fierce light and a shortage of subjects made it a tough morning, however, 13.00 hours sees us putting our cases into our new accommodation for the one night in Macin, then, we were immediately out for a bit of stalking around the Macin mountain foothills.

Superb, non stop action ! !

Overnight, slight changes of plans were made for our second day in Macin

The next morning in Macin, Mick and myself again elected for a very short visit to the drinking hide, we was hoping that with the earlier start, gentle light, we may get lucky ! No, our luck was no better, but as per our changed plans, by 10.00 hours we were heading off to Sinhoe for the final part of this tour.

Midday sees us booked into our Pension in Sinhoe, Grindul Lupilor, this is a very nice hotel, good food, good showers, good air conditioning, (make sure you turn it off at night), very, very nice !
The proprietor, Mr. Teodor Dima makes us most welcome.
